Supply proposals and contracts, 1929-1931.

These records were created by the Board of Administration, a predecessor of the present Department of Corrections. One of the duties of the board was to negotiate contracts for the purchase of all supplies and materials for the state (Ala. Acts, 85, Sections 1, 7, and 8 [1923]). These files contain proposals to supply coal to the state on annual contracts, a wire rope contract, specific highway project proposals, and a contract for repairs to the Board of Health Building. This function of the Board of Administration was taken over by the Department of Finance in 1939 (Ala. Acts, 112, p. 144 [1939]).
